Spencers Wood & Three Mile Cross
Speners Wood & Three Mile Cross: When a Wood, is not a wood but a common
Situated 4 miles south of Reading town centre, and segregated by the M4, like many of the out-laying districts, both Spencers Wood and Three Mile Cross have expanded and evolved over recent years, yet still retain their village feel and charm. Whilst indeed surrounded by beautiful countryside, there is not a wood in sight, but the name Spencers Wood is believed to have originated when once the area was part of the Royal Forest (Windsor Great Park) and was known as Spencerswood Common till the 19th century.

Mereoak Park & Ride is both a convenient and environmentally friendly way to commute in central Reading. The newly opened Green Park Rail Station, on the Reading to Basingstoke line, is just over the motorway. After a busy day, there is nothing better to return home to, that the sound of nature.

Lambs Lane Primary School, is located within Spencers Wood, with a choice of alternative primary schools in the surrounding villages. Secondary Education is byway of Oakbank in neighbouring Ryeish Green. Miahs Indian restaurant and Farriers Arms Public House, both located in Spencers Wood are the closest venues for an evening out, with a further catalogue of fine hostelries located in the surrounding villages and countryside.
Property Market: With the main expansion of the villages, originating from the 1800s, and still continuing today, there is an excellent variety of both age, style and size of property throughout the villages, with modern developments to the north side of Three Mile Cross, and east side of Spencers Wood.
